TANKER PRESSURE TESTING

DOT code requires an annual Internal Visual Inspection (I Sticker) for each specification cargo tank by a qualified and registered inspector. This applies to all cargo tanks transporting lading corrosive to the tank, MC 331 cargo tanks less than 3,500 gal. water capacity constructed of NQT, and all insulated cargo tankers except MC 330 and MC 331 and MC 338. For all others, the interval is 5 years.  Wilmington Tank & Trailer operates a registered Cargo Tank facility and performs this Internal Inspection as part of the annual VIK package.

While performing confined space entry into the tank, or technicians will inspect the tank shell and heads for corroded and abraded areas, dents, distortions, defects in welds, and any other condition that might render the tank unsafe for transport. Liners, if present, can also be inspected during this time. Where corrosion or abrasion are noted, the walls will be thickness tested and the results noted in the report.

Upon completion, the tanker will be marked with the DOT approved I Sticker which certifies the tanker for one year under normal operating conditions.
